The Design Surgery is an informal online interior design consultation: a focused video call where you can bring any interior or fabric question you've been sitting on. Whether you're stuck on a colour decision, unsure about furniture arrangements, overwhelmed by fabric choices, or want a second opinion before making a big purchase, this is the place to get a clear expert answer.
No agenda, no sales pitch. Just honest, practical design advice, tailored to your specific situation.
Think of it as a conversation with a knowledgeable friend who happens to be able to give you professional interior design advice.
What you can bring to a Design Surgery call.​

Colour and paint dilemmas: Can't decide between two shades? Not sure a colour will work in your light? Let's look at it together.

Fabric and textile questions: Unsure which fabric works for your window, sofa, or cushion project? Bring the options - we'll work through it.

Furniture layout and space planning: Something feels off in a room but you can't quite place it. Share a photo and a rough floor plan - we'll find it.

30 minutes - £55
One focused question or decision. Perfect if you have a single dilemma you need resolved. Quick, clear, and actionable.

60 minutes - £95
A broader conversation, or several questions at once. More time to explore, to review photographs together, and to cover multiple aspects of a room or project.

How it works:​

Book your slot - Simply book our service online or send an email to studio@studiohallam.com, confirming your contact details, and we'll call you back to discuss.

Tell us what you're working on - You'll be asked a few short questions at the time of booking so we can make the most of your time. Do share any photographs, inspiration images, or links you think are relevant - the more context, the better.

We prepare - Before your consultation, Studio Hallam will review the information you have supplied and undertake the preparation needed to make the most of your booked time.

We talk - Join the video call at your booked time. Come with your questions, your photographs, your fabric swatches - whatever you have. This is your time.

Leave with clarity - You'll finish the call with a clear direction and specific, actionable next steps. No vague suggestions - just practical advice you can act on straight away.

Your follow-up - Within 24 hours of the consultation, you'll normally receive a brief follow-up email summarising the principal advice discussed, with three to five key recommendations and specific names, colours, products or links where relevant.

A focused advice service
The Design Surgery is designed for focused questions that can reasonably be explored within your booked consultation time. The amount we can cover will depend on the complexity of your question and the length of the session. If your project needs a more developed colour scheme or a complete room design, Studio Hallam may recommend the Colour Consultation or Full Room Design service instead.
The Design Surgery is a virtual advice service. It does not include a site visit, measured survey, technical drawings, procurement, project management, ongoing design work or unlimited follow-up advice.

Please read Studio Hallam's Terms & Conditions and Returns & Refunds Policy before booking. The Design Surgery includes pre-consultation preparation as well as the consultation itself, so work may begin before your appointment takes place.

Weekend appointments may be available by prior arrangement and are subject to a weekend supplement. Weekend appointments cannot be booked online; please contact Studio Hallam directly to enquire about availability.
